My Approach
I believe meaningful change begins with presence and understanding.
My approach creates space to pause, think, feel and explore what's really going on under the surface, and before considering what might need to change, be learned or put into practice.
I bring together coaching, therapeutic perspectives, mindfulness, facilitation and practical learning and development, while keeping each person at the centre of their own experience and choices.
My aim is not to tell people how to live, but to help them understand themselves, discover what matters, and develop their own capacity to learning, growth and progress.
Presence · Understanding · Progress.
Daniel Silvestri works with people across life, relationships, business and the workplace, with individuals, couples and families, professionals and business owners, as well as groups, teams and organisations.
People work with Daniel for all sorts of reasons. They may want to understand themselves better, explore their worth and identity, understand attachments, improve a relationship, build self-esteem, confidence, make a difficult decision, find direction, deal with change or work through something challenging, nuanced or that isn’t going well.
Others want help with work, business or leadership - clearer thinking, better communication, stronger relationships, greater accountability, more structure, strategy, feedback, problem-solving or simply a sounding board to think things through a little deeper.
His work can also touch on stress, tension, overwhelm, grief, trauma and difficult life experiences, always within the scope of coaching and trauma-informed practice rather than clinical treatment.
Other people Dan has worked with may not necessarily be going through an existential crises, but who simply want to understand themselves or other people better, and explore what matters to them, develop new skills, learn something about how they live or work, or work out what they want in the next chapter, stage or phase of life.
Daniel’s style is conversational, reflective and practical. He gives people space and room to pause, think and feel, while also bringing questions, observations, challenge, structure, feedback and practical tools when and where it's useful for his clients.
He doesn’t believe one methodology or answer fits everybody. Each person is unique, as are someone's issues, challenge, situation or circumstance. This requires less of a bias or imposition, and more open heart and curiosity, consideration and courage, to learn and understand what’s really going on, what matters most, and what might need to change, develop, or be practiced over time, worked through, or sometimes simply acknowledged, expressed, understood or accepted.
---
At 19, Dan became an owner-operator of a ShakeAway franchise, eventually running two stores and managing more than 20 employees. His responsibilities ranged from recruitment, training and performance to operations, stock, overseeing the shop floors, marketing and customer experience. Whilst in this business, Dan's life flipped upside down and inside out when discovering his father was committed fraud on his family. This led to shops being repossessed, as well as his family home, and Dan soon became bankrupt.
Following the collapse of the business and difficult circumstances within his family, Daniel had to rebuild both personally and professionally, and barbering became part of that next chapter.
He later co-founded Jack Rabbits Barbers with an old friend, together building a multi-site business, and working on business and staff development, operations, brand, culture and customer experience, that also included barber apprenticeships and training with a local college. This venture also included developing an in-store barbershop within John Lewis & Partners’ Southampton flagship store.
Across his portfolio career, Daniel has served people from very different backgrounds and many cultures, including entrepreneurs, company directors, musicians and professional football players, coaches and staff.
Running businesses in the local communities has provided Daniel with skills around how we communicate, what shapes our behaviour, why relationships work or don’t, how leaders affect culture, how people experience work, and how all of that eventually reaches the customer.
Daniel’s interest in this work was shaped by his own life too.
He has experienced difficult family circumstances, trauma, business failure, bankruptcy, homelessness, relationships, separation and having to rebuild.
In his twenties, an introduction to mindfulness and meditation opened up a much wider interest in psychology, relationships, behaviour, philosophy and human development.
He volunteered with Mind as a befriender and began training professionally.
His development now includes ICF-accredited coaching, IAPCP-accredited hypnotherapy, counselling skills, trauma-informed coaching, Relational Life Therapy, integrative therapeutic practice and facilitation, DISC profiling, Positive Intelligence and workplace assessment.
Daniel was also introduced to coach and speaker Rasheed Ogunlaru, beginning a long-standing relationship of coaching, training, mentorship and collaboration.
They later co-founded the Soul Inspired Business Support Club, supporting sole traders and small-business owners, and Daniel also assists with Rasheed’s Soul Trader sessions for the British Library’s Business & IP Centre.
Farside
Daniel founded Farside in 2020.
Today, his work brings together personal and professional development, relationships and families, business, coaching, facilitation and learning and development. His practice includes one-to-one, couple, family, group, business and organisational work.
At the heart of it is a fairly simple question:
What changes when we understand ourselves and each other more clearly?
For Daniel, awareness and understanding are useful only if they help us do something with what we discover, such as making a decision, having a conversation, practising a skill, changing a pattern, solving problems, taking responsibility, asking for help, asking powerful questions, setting boundaries, trying something different or making peace with something we can’t control or change.
Daniel has always loved music, performance and the arts. He has played in a variety of metal bands, written and performed music, and enjoys the creative side of bringing ideas to life. He loves to travel, and also spends as much time outdoors as he can, whether for adventure and travel or a deep dose of quiet time, be it trail running, hiking, wild swimming, skating and camping. Simply because being outdoors and in nature feels so good!
