Couples & Families
Relationship coaching for partners, parents and families. I offer the space to understand what’s happening between you, and find healthier ways forward.
Relationships can be some of the most rewarding parts of life, and some of the hardest.
You may be struggling to communicate, having the same arguments repeatedly, feeling distant or misunderstood, trying to rebuild trust, navigating a transition or simply noticing that the way you relate to one another isn’t working as well as you’d like.
Families can get stuck too.
Parenting, different needs, changing roles, adult children, separation, stress and life circumstances can all change the way people relate.
And nothing has to be badly wrong.
You may simply want to understand one another better, strengthen an already good relationship, develop better communication or become more intentional about the kind of relationship or family life you want to create.
The work isn’t about deciding who is right.
It is about understanding what is happening between you, what each person is experiencing, what matters and what might help.
Presence · Understanding · Progress
How I work
Understanding the relationship, not finding the guilty person.
I don’t approach relationship work as a courtroom.
Usually, more than one thing can be true at the same time.
One person may feel abandoned while another feels overwhelmed. One may want more conversation while another needs more space. Someone’s intention may have been caring while the impact was painful.
We slow things down enough to understand those different experiences.
Our work might include:
conversation · listening · reflection · communication practice · feedback · exploring patterns · perspective-taking · boundaries · emotional awareness · problem-solving · repair
Sometimes I’ll help slow or structure a difficult conversation.
Sometimes we’ll look more closely at what happens immediately before an argument or disconnection.
Sometimes there is a practical problem to solve.
Sometimes each person needs to become clearer about their own needs, boundaries or responsibility.
And sometimes the most useful thing is simply creating enough safety and time for people to say — and hear — something that hasn’t been properly expressed before.
I draw on coaching, Relational Life Therapy, counselling skills, mindfulness, trauma-informed practice, relational perspectives and facilitation.
The relationship is not made to fit the model. The work adapts to the people in front of me.
More than one perspective
Working together doesn’t mean everyone has to see things the same way.
I will try to understand each person’s experience without automatically taking sides.
At the same time, fairness doesn’t mean pretending every behaviour has the same impact.
We can talk honestly about responsibility, boundaries, hurtful behaviour and what each person may need to do differently.
The aim isn’t necessarily to preserve a relationship at all costs.
Sometimes progress means greater connection.
Sometimes it means changing how people relate.
Sometimes it means making a difficult decision with more understanding and care.

trying to understand different needs for closeness, independence or space
navigating separation, reconciliation or a major life transition
trying to repair after hurt, disappointment or a difficult period
adjusting to parenthood
struggling with differences in parenting
experiencing tension between parents, children, siblings or other family members
wanting support with co-parenting or changing family arrangements
trying to understand the patterns each of you brings into relationships
doing reasonably well, but wanting to strengthen your relationship before problems grow
My work is also accessible for people who aren't experiencing issues, conflicts or challenges. I also love working with couples and families who wish to simply explore their relationship, parenting or life together to bring more health, joy and well-being into their lives.
If you'd like to discuss something not here, please do get in touch and we can chat it through.

What we might work on
Practicals
1. Have a conversation
We begin with a complimentary conversation to understand a little about what’s happening and whether this kind of work seems appropriate.
2. Choose the right starting point
A Relationship Focus Session, Relationship Reset, longer partnership or bespoke family arrangement.
3. A little preparation
Everyone involved may be invited to reflect separately on what they are experiencing and what they hope may be different.
4. Agree how we’ll work
We make confidentiality, communication, individual contact, fees, cancellations and boundaries clear.
5. Begin
We start with what is actually happening.
You don’t need to arrive with the same story. That difference is often where the work begins.

Ways we can work together
Relationship Focus Session
90 minutes · £260
For one particular conversation, difficulty, decision or relationship check-in.
This can be useful if you’re going round in circles on something, facing a decision, trying to understand a recurring disagreement or simply want some supported space to talk properly.
Includes brief preparation and, where useful, a relevant reflection, exercise or resource afterwards.
BOOK A RELATIONSHIP FOCUS SESSION →
Relationship Reset
3 × 90-minute sessions · £825
A short, focused piece of work for couples who want to understand what’s happening between them and begin doing something differently.
1 — Understand

What patterns, needs, communication or boundaries need attention?
3 — Review & Move Forward
What are you learning? What has changed? What still needs attention?

brief preparation from each person
three joint sessions
relevant exercises or reflection between sessions
a simple relationship reflection resource
final review

A typical partnership includes:
an initial 90-minute exploration
four further 90-minute relationship sessions
a final 90-minute review and next-steps session
agreed reflection or exercises between sessions

Ongoing Relationship Coaching
£575 per month
For couples who value regular space to reflect, communicate and keep developing their relationship without working towards one predetermined outcome.
A typical month includes:
two 90-minute joint sessions
reasonable brief check-ins
relevant resources or exercises
preparation and periodic review
An initial three-month period usually gives us enough time to see whether ongoing work is useful.

Bespoke Family Support
Family situations don’t always fit neatly into a sequence of couple sessions.
There may be parents, adult children, siblings, co-parents or several people involved.
Sometimes the work may include a mixture of individual conversations, shared meetings, longer in-person time and appropriate family liaison.
In those situations, we agree the shape of the work around the people involved rather than forcing it into a standard package.
DISCUSS FAMILY SUPPORT →
From me
Presence · Fairness · Curiosity · Confidentiality · Honesty · Transparency · Compassionate challenge · Clear boundaries · Accountability without judgement and prejudgment, shame or blame
I’ll try to make room for everybody involved to speak and be understood.
I may interrupt or slow things down if a conversation becomes unhelpful.
I may ask one person to listen for a while rather than immediately respond.
I may reflect patterns I notice or challenge something that seems important.
And I won’t pretend that keeping everyone comfortable is always the same thing as helping.
From you
You don’t have to communicate perfectly.
I do ask for willingness to be honest, listen, reflect on your own part in what is happening and give feedback about the process.
Relationship work becomes difficult if the entire aim is:
“Help the other person see that I’m right.”
A more useful question is often:
What is happening here — and what is each of us responsible for?
What you can expect
Depending on the way we agree to work, there may be reasonable contact between sessions for brief reflections, questions, check-ins or accountability.
If something needs more substantial coaching or exploration, we’ll normally bring it into a session or agree some additional time.

Getting started
Online · Phone · In person
Relationship sessions are generally longer than individual coaching sessions so there is enough time for more than one person to participate without rushing.
A standard relationship session is 90 minutes · £260.
For more involved family work, fees are agreed according to the actual scope.
Supported-rate capacity may be available.
FEES & FAQs →
Relationship coaching can hold disagreement, strong emotion, conflict and difficult experiences.
However, if somebody does not feel able to speak freely or safely because of violence, coercion, intimidation or another serious safeguarding concern, joint coaching may not be the appropriate place to begin.
If something sits outside my professional scope, I’ll say so and, where possible, help identify more appropriate specialist support.
Safety & scope
Confidentiality, consent & individual conversations
Where I work with more than one person, we agree at the beginning how communication, individual conversations and confidentiality will work.
I won’t automatically create completely separate secret coaching relationships while also working with the relationship as a whole.
If individual conversations are useful, their purpose and boundaries will be clear.
Where parents or another person are paying for an adult’s support, payment does not automatically give them access to private conversations.
