Couples & Families

Marriage counselling has been around for a long time, but relationship coaching for couples, parents and whole families still feels much less commonplace. And what interested me was why, given the increase of divorce and unsettled relationships and family issues we have known going on in our culture for as far as our mind goes back. And I started to ask myself a question about what might coaching look like, if coaching / therapy work included not only one individuals personal journey, but both partners and their relationship, and the family system that a couple begins creating, building and living when they have children of their own.

I began retraining, researching and studying relational and family approaches and spending time learning about all the relationships in life we have and hold, and understanding what makes up a quality and healthy happy relationship, while thinking carefully about how coaching might become useful and accessible across different stages of family life.

Today, I work with couples and partners, parents, co-parents, blended families and families with children.

Relationships naturally move through different stages, phases and seasons of life. Family planning, becoming parents, raising children, changing roles, adult children leaving home, separation, new partnerships and blended families can all alter the way people experience and relate to one another.

Couples struggling to communicate with each other is nothing new. Neither is getting caught in the same disagreement repeatedly, feeling distant or misunderstood, losing trust, or reaching a point where two people are no longer quite sure how to find their way back to one another. And families can become stuck in ruts and patterns too.

Different needs, parenting styles, expectations, responsibilities, loyalties, personalities and ways of communicating can begin to rub against one another. Stress, grief, trauma, work, money, health, children, ageing parents and changing circumstances can all place pressure on relationships that may otherwise have felt relatively steady.

Sometimes relationships can become fractured or end. And separation brings its own relational work: making sense of what happened, communicating through change, co-parenting, rebuilding individual lives, and sometimes learning lessons and gathering insights from one relationship before entering another.

And sometimes nothing is particularly wrong. I believe that quality, happy, and healthy relationships can still be explored and strengthened. Couples and families may want to understand one another more deeply, improve communication, develop different ways of handling disagreements, or become more intentional about the kind of relationship, home and family life being created together.

My own deep family and relational challenges led me to question and inquire, research and notice a gap in the market that there aren't many places for people to receive quality relational support, and family support in a professional way. I have seen a great rise in amazing community support! And I do truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child, and also for intimate relationships to flourish and thrive!

My approach

We slow conversations down enough to hear what each person is experiencing. We may explore patterns, different ways of communicating, clarify and practice boundaries or work through a practical difficulty (including traumas) together. My approach also helps people to gather practical structure and organisation in their own life. Because this is the way I have discovered helps to settle a disorganised, fearful, anxious mind. And one of the main aim is to first work on mental distresses that is causing suffering and disruption for a couple or family system.

I aim to understand each person without automatically taking sides. We can also be honest about responsibility and the impact of behaviour. Progress may mean greater connection, a different way of relating or making a difficult decision with care.

My relationship Coaching & relational development approach draws on Relational Life Therapy (RLT), alongside coaching, attachment-aware, trauma-informed, mindfulness and other integrative relational perspectives and models.

Relational Life Therapy (RLT) is a direct, action-oriented couples counselling model developed by Terry Real that uses loving confrontation and practical skill-building to achieve rapid relationship transformation.

Unlike conventional talk therapy where the therapist remains strictly neutral, RLT practitioners actively coach couples, point out destructive behaviours, and take sides to restore balance when one partner causes harm.

I have also been studying various other relational models, as well as observing and researching relational awareness personally and professionally for the past 6 years. And I bring my own unique style to the coaching space.

Our work could include:

conversation · listening · observations · reflection · communication practice · feedback · exploring patterns · perspective-taking · boundaries · emotional awareness · problem-solving · repair · early childhood developmental and emotional attachment · trauma

  • having the same arguments or misunderstandings again and again

  • disagreements to an unhealthy level

  • feeling disconnected, distant or lonely within a relationship

  • finding it difficult to express what you need without things escalating

  • struggling with trust, intimacy, boundaries or resentment

  • trying to understand different needs for closeness, independence or space

  • navigating separation, reconciliation or a major life transition

  • trying to repair after hurt, disappointment or a difficult period

  • adjusting to parenthood

  • struggling with differences in parenting

  • experiencing tension between parents, children, siblings or other family members

  • wanting support with co-parenting or changing family arrangements

  • trying to understand the patterns each of you brings into relationships

  • doing reasonably well, but wanting to strengthen your relationship before problems grow

My work is also accessible for people who aren't experiencing issues, conflicts or challenges. I also love working with couples and families who wish to simply explore their relationship, parenting or life together to bring more health, joy and well-being into their lives.

If you'd like to discuss something not here, please do get in touch and we can chat it through.

Ways we can work together

Relationship Focus Session

90 minutes · £260

A focused session for couples, partners or family members who want space to explore a particular issue, pattern, decision or conversation.

This can be useful if you are:

  • stuck in a recurring argument or pattern

  • feeling distant, disconnected or misunderstood

  • trying to work through a particular rupture or difficulty

  • facing a relationship decision

  • wanting to improve communication or understanding

  • looking for a useful starting point before deciding whether longer work is needed

We’ll slow things down, understand what is happening between you, and begin identifying what may help.

Relationship Reset

3 × 90-minute sessions · £825

A short, focused piece of work for relationships that need more than one conversation, but do not necessarily need an open-ended commitment.

Across three sessions we can begin to understand the relational dynamic and pattern, explore what each person is experiencing and contributing, and practise healthier ways of communicating, responding and repairing.

The Reset may include:

  • an initial relationship reflection or questionnaire

  • mapping recurring relational patterns

  • exploring intention and impact

  • communication and repair practices

  • attachment and relational awareness

  • relevant exercises or resources

  • brief between-session reflections or check-ins

  • a final review and next steps

Useful for couples wanting to interrupt an unhelpful cycle and begin relating differently.

START A RELATIONSHIP RESET →

Relationship Coaching Partnership

Approximately 12 weeks · £1,750

For couples or relational work that would benefit from more sustained attention, practice, accountability and support.

A typical personal partnership includes:

  • 6 × 90-minute relational sessions

  • an initial mapping of what is happening in the relationship

  • exploration of repeating patterns and family-of-origin influences where relevant

  • practical relational and communication skills

  • work around boundaries, responsibility, connection, intimacy and repair

  • exercises or practices between sessions

  • reasonable brief messaging or check-ins

  • a review and integration session toward the end of the partnership

We will dive deep and explore understanding the relationship itself, including what happens to each partner and also between you, what each person is bringing to the dynamic, what each person is holding onto or carrying, what needs to change, and what healthier relating could look like in practice.

or 3 monthly payments of approximately £585

Ongoing Relationship Coaching

From £575 per month

For couples who want continued relational development, support and accountability after an initial piece of work.

A typical month includes:

  • 2 × 90-minute sessions

  • reasonable brief between-session contact

  • relevant relational practices and resources

  • periodic review of what is changing and what still needs attention

We regularly review whether ongoing work is still useful.

My aim is not to keep you in the coaching room indefinitely, but to help you build greater awareness, relational skills, tools and capacity for you to begin coaching yourselves to sustain relational health and wellbeing.

This may include:

  • a recurring conflict or relational pattern

  • separation or post-separation conversations

  • preparing for a major transition

  • exploring how you want to relate differently going forward

Half-Day Relational Intensive

Approximately 3.5–4 hours · £650

A deeper working session with enough time to explore, understand, practise and integrate without needing to stop just as something important is emerging.

Useful where the relationship feels particularly stuck, complex or under pressure.

Full-Day Relational Intensive

Approximately 6 hours · from £950

For relational work that genuinely benefits from a concentrated day rather than being divided into shorter sessions.

The day is paced carefully, with breaks and space to reflect, and is only offered where an extended format appears appropriate for the people and situation involved.

Families & Bespoke Relational Support

My family work is bespoke and tailored to suit your exact family needs and challenges.

There may be several people involved, different relationships to consider, individual conversations, shared sessions, parent or family liaison, longer in-person visits or a mixture of online and face-to-face work.

For that reason, family and more complex relational engagements are usually designed and quoted around the actual scope of the work.

We will agree clearly:

  • who I am working with

  • the purpose of the work

  • who attends which conversations

  • confidentiality and information-sharing boundaries

  • how communication between sessions works

  • the expected level of professional input

  • travel or direct expenses where relevant

  • when and how we review the arrangement

DISCUSS FAMILY SUPPORT →

Unsure? Let's have a quiet chat.

You may not know which option best fits your unique situation or circumstance, needs or challenge. I offer a complimentary conversation to understand what's happening, and for us to decide together what kind of starting point makes the most sense.

Depending on the way we agree to work, there may be reasonable contact between sessions for brief reflections, questions, check-ins or accountability.

If something needs more substantial coaching or exploration, we’ll normally bring it into a session or agree some additional time.
